Doxy-PEP (oral medication for STD prevention)

What is Doxy-PEP?

Doxy-PEP (Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a preventive method that involves taking doxycycline after sexual activity to reduce the risk of contracting bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea.
※Please note that it does not prevent HIV infection.

Expected preventive benefits

Doxy-PEP may reduce the risk of chlamydia infection by approximately 70–75%. It is also expected to provide a certain level of protection against syphilis and gonorrhea.
While Doxy-PEP is highly effective in helping prevent sexually transmitted infections, it does not completely protect against all infections.

・The condom broke or came off during sexual activity.
・You are concerned because your partner’s STI status is unknown.
・You have contact with multiple partners and want ongoing protection against potential risks.
・Your partner has been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection.
